Appearance: Very pale, not even quite white wine, surprising for a sherry cask! However, big thick legs and very oily film on glass
Nose: Nose: Another sugary one, white wine (ironically), pear drops, lemon sherberts, a touch of old sofa?!
Palate: Nice buttery and floral arrival. A touch of light sweet spice and candied lemon. For me, the ABV was more evident on the 12yo palate. Maybe that’s just acclimatisation though? Roasted nuts? Hazelnuts and walnuts.
Bitter lemon now, ever so slightly drying on the tongue.
Finish: Lemon and nuts! There’s an underlying sweetness to balance too.
Overall: Another nice dram. I’m surprised again. I prefer the 12, but this is good too!
