Appearance
Mid gold with amber in colour, nice thick swirl line that reluctantly drops thick legs. #thewhiskeychaps
Nose
Well it’s a very promising start, it’s not one of those vaguely matured grains, there’s a bit going on here. #thewhiskeychaps
I have to say that it’s named rather aptly, I get those notes along with pontefract cakes, weetabix, something like cherry and wood, wood waxes too. #thewhiskeychaps
I’m also getting a slight menthol note, perhaps linseed oil, dare I say old style glazing putty @jenkaloid, so far it’s rather good tbh. #thewhiskeychaps
How about the powder on Turkish delight chunks? With some of the Turkish delight rose flavour. #thewhiskeychaps

Palate
Oooh, a pretty decent mouthfeel, didn’t expect that tbh, and it’s quite bold. Definitely getting the cereals, with cinnamon buns, perhaps a touch of Jamaican ginger cake, black pepper, black liquorice, and bitter lemon. #thewhiskeychaps
Starts to get spicier for me, again lovely mouthfeel, and I’m getting espresso coffee now, dark chocolate, cranberries, raisins, and juicy figs, this is very nice, and you have a whole bottle @whiskeychap #thewhiskeychaps
Finish
Quite long, definitely getting Bourbon notes with that spice, chest warming, more like a great 1st fill bourbon cask, and it does linger some too. #thewhiskeychaps
My thoughts
Being a blended grain whisky of some age i had hoped that this was a well matured blend, and knowing that everything iv’e tasted so far from Atom Labs has been very good, i had high hopes. I have to say that the name is rather apt, but it does offer much more, firstly it has lots of flavour, quite a spicy dram in all honesty.
The price of aged grain whiskies has sadly risen over the past few years, and to find this 30yr old for the price it is, it’s an absolute steal, i’d definitely buy a bottle.
