Cadenheads Paul John 7yr old Oak cask, 55.4% ABV.

cadenheads paul john 7yr old oak cask

Appearance – Mid Gold in colour, beads up on the glass, slow running thin legs.

Nose – Bit of an ABV slap, BBQ meat, Sweet smoke, Very slightly medicinal, Icing sugar, Damp leaves, Sultanas, Black currant jam, Blanket warmth smell.

Palate – Tropical and stoned fruits, Very warming, Fruit cocktail syrupy, Sweet smoke with the fruit, Red toffee apple, Slight Germoline, Citrusy Lemonade ice lolly.

Finish – Medium length, Ashy, BBQ sauce, Vanilla custard and Red berry pie, Dunnage, Slightly earthy.

My thoughts – The nose and palate were both a little underwhelming, I suspect it’s one of these uptight whiskies, that need air and some time, then become fantastic.

Would I buy a bottle? – Yes, at the right price.
