This Rye spirit is very light gold in colour, with a thick swirl line and syrupy thick legs.
First aroma to hit me is evergreen boughs, then cocktail cherries along with their sweetness. Hot mashed potatoes which i get regular with Rye’s and some Bourbon’s, a twist of lime, a touch of menthol, a meaty note and wood varnish finish the nose for me.
Gorgeous sweet strawberries, Scarlets to be more precise open the palate, then there’s a big wave of spices. Black pepper, fishermans friends throat lozenges, cigar leaves, grapefruit, and blood oranges bring a super spicy turning into zesty bitterness. Pomegranates and cranberries see the palate close.
Medium long in length, with lime, grapefruit, orange rind and black pepper, lovely and spicy with that real zesty twist.
Iv’e come to really enjoy Rye whisk(e)y/spirit, i love the spices. This Rye spirit has that in spades, along with sweetness and zesty bitterness, it’s a wonderful spirit indeed, which as mentioned during the tasting, does have whisky in it, being around 38 months of age.
