Cù Bòcan Sherry cask, is a limited edition fully Sherry cask matured bottling. This whisky is NCF, NC, 6,000 bottles, 46% ABV, 700ml.

Appearance
A shade darker than mid gold for me, with a lovely thick swirl line, with syrupy teardrops and super thick slow running legs. #thewhiskeychaps
Nose
We’re starting off here with a perfumed note, aromatic wood, and the dark fruits expected. It’s a mix of woods and mince pie filling at the moment, Jammy dodgers, rich tea biscuits. The longer it sits the more juicy it’s becoming. #thewhiskeychaps
Palate
First off again this has a good mouthfeel, and the sherry cask spices are all over it. Cough syrup, aniseed, root ginger, cardamom, cranberries, mixed fruit strudel, and lovely and warming. #thewhiskeychaps
Continues to stay spicy, and definitely becoming more strawberry tart like, the spice spices and sweetness co exist nicely, the spices just win the tussle. Slowly we’re going into espresso, and for me NO SULPHUR! woo hoo! #thewhiskeychaps
Finish
The finish is long side of medium, and it’s a real sweet/spicy combo with a faint bitter twist with the espresso, and a minimal touch of drying, and still no sulphur, fantastic. #thewhiskeychaps
My thoughts
This is a very capable Ex Sherry cask whisky, that brings everything one would expect from such casks, and no nasty surprises. I know many whisky folk that love Ex Sherry cask whiskies enjoy some of that dirty filthy sulphur, none will be found here, which for me is a big plus.
One thing i did notice is that the lightly peated spirit has been largely lost to cask influence. Personally i would like the PPM to be a little higher, only to get more peat on the palate. Other than that i found it a lovely dram, on i’d gladly own a bottle of.
