Cu Bocan Whisky
Tasted as party of the @TweetTasting for @cubocanwhisky on twitter on 24/3/2021.
Appearance
This whiskey is light gold in colour, it beads up on the swirl line which is also very syrupy, and has slow Medium legs.

Nose
Immediately I get. Sweetness and dustiness, icing sugar, perfume, then darker notes, dates, a touch of mustard, grapefruit, black liquorice and ginger. There’s earthiness too. I’d go as far as saying spicy rose water, with old leather. It’s changing now, red berries and cereals/grains, I like this nose mate.
Lemoncello is a great shout, and lemon puff biscuits too now.#CuBocanWhisky

Palate
Super citrusy initially, sweet and spicy lemon, apricots, then ginger, hot cinnamon sweets, black pepper, black jacks, black coffee, chilli’s, black grapes, and oak. A hint of smoke with cooked salted bacon, lovely tbh. After continuing to drink this after the tasting i did notice a very light sulphur note as others had found, but it is very light in nature.
I’m liking walnuts Sorren 👍#CuBocanWhisky

Finish
Nice and long, dark chocolate, black coffee, a tea note, cranberries, a little drying, chilli’s, grapefruit/pomelo.
My thoughts
I really have enjoyed this whisky, there are so many aromas and flavours, and it has a wonderful development. Being as this was the first time i had tried a CuBocan whisky i was very pleasantly surprised, i could nose and taste it for quite some time.
Would i buy a bottle?
Yes i would, i really did enjoy it, and i’d have to say there’s plenty going on for £41.95 or close to that price.
Note – This whisky is presented in its natural colour and non chill filtered.
