A Flora and Fauna official release from the Dailuaine distillery, a 16-year-old single malt that has been sherry matured.
Appearance: Copper/tea. A nice and oily coating on the glass, quite a chaotic mixture of medium/thick legs and teardrops. A defined swirl mark.
Nose: Fairly decent ABV wave, given the 43%.
Pear, some green apple skin, demerara sugar, honey and pastry.
Palate: Quite a subdued palate. Some sweetness, grapefruit bitterness and a touch of spice.
There’s a malty oaty layer on the palate. Maybe a porridge kind of mellowness subduing the sweetness slightly, like porridge with apple slices?
Finish: Short. A spice tingle quickly fades, leaving the sweetness. It’s a little watery in the end, which is what I’m left with, unfortunately.
