Dalmore The Quartet 41.5% ABV

dalmore the quartet

Finished in four casks -first-fill ex-bourbon, 30 Year Old Matusalem sherry, 30-Year-Old Apostoles sherry and Bordeaux Cabernet Sauvignon.

Appearance: Another lovely dark autumnal coloured whisky. Thicker swirl line with thin to medium legs forming.

Nose: Lovely fruity nose, gooseberry jam, sherry trifle, some light spice (cinnamon and clove) and sugared almonds. Unless I’m imagining it, cap strip smoke. A good hit of ABV on this one too adds that little bit of spice.

Palate: Smoke initially, followed by a lovely soft buttery flavour. Nice and oily, coats the tongue. There’s a peppery tingle and a tiny amount of drying.
Orange bitterness, cherry drop sweets, fruit chocolate and Orange Fanta.

Finish: Oranges, slight drying, sharply concentrated gooseberry, chocolate.

Overall: Very nice. Would prefer maybe a tad less bitterness but overall, a lovely dram indeed.
