Duncan Taylor Indian Summer Gin Ex Tomatin CS 51% ABV

duncan taylor indian summer

Left over from a Twitter tasting that I unfortunately missed, I thought I’d try a couple of the Duncan Taylor offerings!

Appearance: Light gold

Nose: Immediately reminded me of biltong! Roasted coriander seeds, BBQ, meaty, spices. Some honey and vanilla notes balance slightly, but predominantly biltong!

Palate: Biltong still! More spice now, white pepper, coriander, sweet BBQ sauce and charred steak. It’s unique, definitely, I’m not sure if I like it or not? I make and am a big fan of biltong, but as food, hmmmm, to confused!?

Finish: The finish is drying with spice, short though, which in this case I happily accept.

Overall: I’m not sure what to make is this whiskey? I’m going to err on the side of caution and say that, although it reminds me strongly of food I love, I’m not a fan of those aromas and flavours in a whiskey.
