Dunville’s 19Yr old Ex-Oloroso cask, cask #162, 55% ABV.

Dunville’s 19yr old Oloroso Sherry cask 162

Appearance – It’s dark oxidised Cooper in colour, it’s very viscous on the glass, legs leave a ripple effect on the glass.

Nose – This is full on stewed dark fruits, cloves, raisins, figs, black cherries, and black grapes with burnt brown sugar, cardamom, nutmeg, cigar leaves, there’s also a sweetness to it, and I’d say it’s menthol, it’s a belter of a nose tbh.

Palate – Oooh, a gentle arrival, comes on like a wave of flavour, and ends up being very spicy. Yep the stewed dark fruits are all there, there’s also cinnamon, vanilla, Jamaican ginger cake, nutmeg, gentle peppercorns, cola cubes, chilli spice, Black liquorice, and dark chocolate, it’s so warming and has a loverly feel to it, and there’s nothing out of place, imho it’s perfect.

Finish – The finish is soooo long, it’s keeps on warming until the very end, and leaves cherries, cigar leaves, and black liquorice, it’s quite Black Forest gateau, with plenty of alcohol in it, just gorgeous tbh.

My thoughts – As if you couldn’t tell, I love this stuff, it’s so full and rounded, it’s an absolute pleasure to drink it, and every drop would be savoured.

Would I buy a bottle? – Um🤔, yes it’s a no brainer for me, of o could find one, it’s a fantastic example of it’s class.

Notes – I could find no information about the colour etc of this whiskey, but I’d hazard a guess that it is natural coloured and non chill filtered.
