The producers have decided to discontinue the 12 Year Old expression and introduce this expression as a replacement. This new expression has been well received and has won two San Francisco World Spirits Competition Double Gold medals. It is a bourbon without any age statement, created using a blend of spirits aged between eight and 12 years old, which have been matured in Level 3 charred oak barrels.

Appearance: Vanished oak. A jagged micro-beaded swirl line forms along with several medium trails and random droplets.
The film that appears and clings to the glass is nice and oily.

Nose: Fairly light on the ethanol. That familiar group of aromas rise from the glass in abundance: caramel, oak, cherry wood, vanilla, cinnamon and black pepper.
The nose is a little richer than many bourbons, which is nice to discover. The cherry, cinnamon and oak are the more dominant elements in the nose.

Palate: A pretty thin mouthfeel. Sweet concentrated syrupy cherries, black pepper, oak, vanilla and honey. Shredded apple in muesli.
The cinnamon shows up almost immediately after the initial flavours, as well as orange chocolate.

Finish: Medium in length. The orange, black pepper, vanilla and cherry wood all linger for a decent amount of time. Black pepper oats the longest and warms the chest nicely.

Overall: A decent bourbon for a decent price. Pretty standard but there’s a definite quality here that will please most Bourbon drinkers.
