Originally filled at the Ardmore distillery on 4-Jun-2009. This Ardmore was finished in a 1st-Fill Mezcal Barrel. Bottled on 6-Oct-2022 and limited to 213 bottles.
Appearance: White wine/sun-bleached straw. A thin beaded swirl line, with many corrugated thin to medium legs around the glass. An oily film clings to the glass. After a while, the beading turns into small teardrops.
Nose: A salty smoke accompanies the ABV wave. There’s also an ashy caramelised BBQ meat aroma.
Palate: More of the BBQ meats but with a mellow custard/chocolate….chocolate custard. A white pepper tingling heat. There’s a pleasant sweeter side to the dram too, quite rich and concentrated. A little drying now and getting spicier.
Finish: The caramelised BBQ meats, salinity and smoke linger for a long time, before slowly disappearing. Some sweetness balances.
Overall: A very pleasant dram that continuously offers something new. Well-balanced and unique.
