Originally filled at the Linkwood distillery on 3-Feb-2010, after being finished in a 1st-Fill Tokaji Barrel. Bottled on 6-Oct-2022 and limited to 260 bottles.
Appearance: Cherry wood. A tide mark consisting of teardrops and large beads immediately forms. Plenty of lovely thick legs form and seep through the oily film clinging to the glass.
Nose: A nice hit from the alcohol.
Palate: A nice semi-viscous mouthfeel together with a nicely balanced sweet/spice arrival. The spice is white pepper and citrus, while the sweetness is dessert wine: plenty of red grapes and berries. A little drying with wood spice and some blood orange bitterness now. Milky dark roast coffee follows, as well as milk chocolate and some dried fruits.
Finish: Medium to long. The drying continues, as does the chocolate, coffee and orange notes. A touch of black pepper lingers. The spice builds with time too.
Overall: An unusual, interesting and enjoyable dram. Just enough sweetness to counteract the dryness and new flavours appear upon each sip.
