Our 2021 Seasonal Release is a limited edition 12 year old single malt whisky. Matured in first fill Bourbon and American Oak hogsheads, then finished for 12 months in first fill Oloroso hogsheads and heavily charred American Oak barrels.
Glen Scotia
Appearance
This bottling is very light in colour, bright gold I’d say, the swirl line is thick, and it drops slow medium thick legs.
This is the second of our Seasonal releases. With the seasonal releases we are looking to use sherry influence in a way that offers something different to the core range expressions, bottled at cask strength, non-chill filtered, natural colour and age stated #thewhiskeychaps

Nose
Cream soda sweetness comes across first, then aromatic wood and wood wax. Tropical fruits coming through again, followed by an oiliness, then old style glazing putty, and perhaps a hint of foam bananas too.
Waiting some more and I’m getting a honey aroma too now, it’s becoming a little dusty, but overall on the nose it’s quite sweet for me, I like that.
Yes, the heavy charring gives us wonderful chocolate and coffee flavours alongside the roasted sugars to work with the creaminess of the first fill bourbon #thewhiskeychaps

Palate
Lovely ABV, it’s perfect, it has nice mouthfeel, and initially the palate is much like the nose, all sweetness, fruity sweetness, icing sugar etc. Then it develops into spicy cinnamon, ginger, and chilli’s before bitterness arrives with chillis, dark chocolate orange, blood oranges and cranberries.
Finish
Dark fruits dominate the finish, with molasses, it’s almost rum like in some ways, then prunes and figs envelope everything. It’s medium in length for me.
Very nice indeed, another winner for me tbh. #thewhiskeychaps

My thoughts
This was the first time i’d tried this whisky, and like the others i really enjoyed it. The first fill Bourbon aspect is wonderful, i love first fill Bourbon cask whisky, and the heavily charred cask brings super dark notes, together with the Glen Scotia spirit they create a wonderful whisky, that yes, id be very happy to own a bottle of.
