A limited-edition 12yo CS single malt whisky. Matured in first-fill Bourbon and American Oak hogsheads, finished for 12 months in first-fill Oloroso hogsheads & heavily charred American Oak barrels. 2yo 1st fill bourbon finished in a combination of 65% 1st fill oloroso and 35% heavy charred American oak for 12 months.
Appearance: Gold, exactly gold. Nice and oily, good film on the glass. Medium/thick legs.
Nose: Sweetness hits first, it smells like sweet milky iced coffee so I would guess that’s the unrefined sugar flavours from the heavy char? I also get chocolate milkshake!?
There’s also a rum-like vanilla whish is really nice! Is there a slight salinity? It’s faint for me but I get that in the background.
I get a slight lemon (maybe candied) in this too. Seems to be a common thread, is there something that would impart that lemon element?
This is the second of our Seasonal releases. With the seasonal releases we are looking to use sherry influence in a way that offers something different to the core range expressions, bottled at cask strength, non-chill filtered, natural colour and age stated #thewhiskeychaps

Palate: The unrefined sugar sweetness continues to the palate, the lemon, however, seems to have morphed/evolved into a more orange flavour. Roasted horse chestnuts.
Xmas spices, vanilla still and a developing jamminess too.
Finish: I get the jam still, more of the citrus (both lemon and orange) and those spices. Medium to long. Lovely!
Overall: It’s incredibly moreish and satisfying. Such a wonderful array of aromas and flavours and perfect as a Xmas release.
