Appearance – Gold coloured in the glass, medium running, thickish legs.
Nose – Very light peat, Earthy, Lemon oil, Icing sugar, Pencil shavings, the top of a Bakewell tart, slightly medicinal, white pepper.
PALATE – More peat than the nose suggested, BBQ sauce, Bonfire Ash, Pear drops, Vegetal, Sweet peat, Iodine, Salinity, Pear, Cinnamon, Apple pie, Seared Pineapple.
Finish – Medium to long, with White pepper, Light oak and Ginger.
My thoughts – This is a lovely Blended Whisky, plenty going on flavour wise, but not a peat bomb, a great introduction to Islay peat.
Would I buy a bottle? – Yes, it’s a lot of flavour for the price.
Thanks to – The character of Islay Whisky Company.
