Our Hazelburn range takes its name from one of Campbeltown’s lost distilleries and was first produced at Springbank Distillery in 1997. Making full use of all three stills, this range is triple distilled and unpeated resulting in a spirit that is creamy, delicate and light.

Appearance
Very light in colour again, white wine for me, the thick swirl line quickly beads up, and drops very slow thick legs. #thewhiskeychaps
Nose
Cherry bakewells! Definite lime cordial, and different again to the last 2. Unripe plums, marzipan, juice from a jar of cocktail cherries. A foresty aroma is also here, though diminished compared to the first 2 handfills. #thewhiskeychaps
I’m getting light Virginia tobacco with this dram, newish leather, raisins, milk chocolate, linseed oil also comes through for me. #thewhiskeychaps
Palate
Ahh, spicy but fruit sweet too, this is the most like I expected tbh. Starburst sweets, tutti frutti’s, skittles, almost red wine cask sweet actually, or port cask tbh. Red liquorice, strawberry laces too, slowly becoming more spicy. #thewhiskeychaps
There’s definitely a black tea and chocolate coated digestive biscuit feel to this dram now, and borders chocolate ginger biscuits. It becomes sweeter for me, tropical and stoned fruits, and red berry juicy all the way through. #thewhiskeychaps
Finish
Again long side of medium in length for me, and it develops into bubblegum, the juiciness continues, and the spices are still hanging around. Fisherman’s friends and espresso are here, black cherries too. #thewhiskeychaps
My thoughts
This is a nice sweet/spicy dram, the balance is rather good, and the abv is again full on. The mouthfeel is oily, and i found plenty to enjoy to be honest. Of the three Hazelburn hand filled bottles tasted this came in 2nd place for me. I will be trying it again with water soon to see if it becomes fruitier, and if it does i’ll amend the tasting notes. It was well worth trying this bottle, i enjoyed it.
