Appearance – Light straw in colour, thick slow running legs.
Nose – Just when I thought I’d tried most smokey/peated whisky, I nose this, full on herbaceous smoke/peat, like a bonfire using tree/conifer limbs, and bits and bobs from a forest floor. Slightly medicinal, a faint whiff of Germoline, slight bbq sauce, cherryade and pine needles, very welcoming.
Palate – Forest bonfire again, Sweet liquorice with sultanas, fig, Black pepper spice, nutmeg, very slightly drying, but a loverly mouthful.
Finish – F – Black pepper with chilli, cardamom, medium to long in length, warming, herbaceous with pine needles again, and bbq meat, loverly stuff indeed .
My thoughts – I really do like this whisky, and if your a bit of a peat lover, and want a different kind of peat, this dram offers a loverly herbaceous and floral peat, imho this is a loverly dram.
Would I buy a bottle? – I think you can guess that I would, plenty going on to entertain the nose and palate, it ticks all of my boxes 襤
