Appearance: Tizer, ale. Beaded swirl mark with many teardrops. A faint thin corrugated film coats the glass.
Nose: Distant smoke and ash. Some BBQ meat sweetness, blueberries honey and vanilla. Barrel char, some oak notes mixed with shoe polish and a slight salinity. The ABV is evident on the nose, a nice alcohol wave.
Palate: Nice mouthfeel, quite oily. The meat and smokey notes continue through to the palate. There’s also Werthers, some lemon, sherbert and some astringency. Some botanical notes. There’s also a blood orange bitterness that I’m not overly keen on.
Finish: Lemon pepper arrives as the glass matures, along with a slight confectionary sweetness.
Overall: Overall I find it ‘ok’. I wouldn’t rush to buy a bottle but it’s a pleasant sip and I’m glad I’ve tried it
