Smokehead, Rock Edition #1, 44.2% ABV.

Smokehead rock edition

Appearance – Straw/white wine in colour, very viscous on the glass and reluctantly drops legs.

Nose – Much lighter on the nose than other Smokeheads, tropical fruits, pineapples, pears, apricots, with white wine, digestive biscuits, very little smoke, it’s a little floral, would even go as far as to say perfumed.

Palate – Fruity ash now, white grapes, gooseberries, greenhauges, elderflower, lemonade, quite sugary, Icing sugar, Royal icing, and a little menthol, nothing overly strong.

Finish – Medium in length, lots of tropical fruits, a little peppery, a little smoke, quite light all round tbh, it’s not what I expected, but I really like it. And then a much more peppery note comes along when you think it’s all over.

My thoughts – This Smokehead is rather different, it’s not heavily smokey imho, it’s nicely balanced with white and green berries and fruits, quite refreshing.

Would I buy a bottle? – Yes, another good bottle from the Smokehead range, lighter than the others for me, and rather tasty.
