Appearance – This Smokehead is dark gold in colour, very viscous on the glass, and has slow thick legs.
Nose – we have Strawberries, Raspberries red cherries, fruit mixed with bonfire ash, and a little spirity, the nicest fruit nose so far of 5 we tried.
Palate – There’s much more ash on the palate, not so much fruit for me, some red fruits, some Stone fruits, slightly spicy with white pepper, the lightest touch of Germoline, not the best rum cask I’ve had tbh, not too much on the palate really, mainly overpowering ash for me 😬.
Finish – The finish is short in length, slightly syrupy, fruit cocktail syrup, the finish is better than the palate in general.
My thoughts – I have been really looking forward to trying this bottle, and was expecting a right rollicking mouthful of tropical fruits, some darker fruit rum like notes, brown sugar etc, but I got ash with the lightest hint of red fruits, I found it to be disappointing tbh, the nose gave it so much potential.
Would I buy a bottle? – No, the best part of it for me was the finish, followed but the nose, in between was rather……empty, sadly.
