Appearance – This Smokehead is dark gold in colour, very viscous on the glass and very slow running thick legs.
Nose – There’s clove, cinnamon, Ginger, that shoe polish again, sultanas, black pepper, very light ash surprisingly and the sherry notes are quite strong in this one, with Old leather and dusty furniture.
Palate – It’s a fresher palate, with a nice mouthfeel, loads of dark stewed fruits, cigar leaves, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, brown sugar, burnt sugar, figs, and a little ash.
Finish – The finish is long and warming, it builds up, there are wet leaves, dunnage, cigar leaves, black pepper, cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom, the finish is very nice.
My thoughts – Yet another lovely whIsky from Smokehead, lots of sherry notes, plenty of depth, and very rounded, I like it.
Would I buy a bottle? – It’s another yes for a Smokehead whisky, thoroughly decent imho.
