Talisker Distiller’s Edition 2011 45.8% ABV

Part of the 2021 Distillers Edition range, this whisky was distilled back in 2011 and bottled in 2021 at 45.8% ABV. This is Talisker’s 2021 Distillers Edition release, double-matured in ex-bodega Amoroso casks.

Appearance: Light caramel. A corrugated film of medium legs runs around the entire circumference of the glass. A medium tide mark considering of many teardrops clings to its place for ages.

Nose: Sea spray, beach BBQ and caramel chocolate bar emerge first. Some deeper richer dark fruit notes follow. A little petrichor and damp leaf litter.

Palate: A lovely mouthfeel, nice and oily. An initial sweet smoke with some caramelised meats and those dark fruits. A touch of blood orange, some light black pepper, cinnamon and ginger.
The palate is nicely balanced and friendly.

Finish: Short to medium. The blood orange and spices last longest. The fruits fade quite quickly. It’s a moreish finish, leaving me wanting another sip.

Overall: I really like this one, it’s a very friendly whisky that you could happily sit with for an evening, share and explore. Lovely.
