Tamdhu 15yo 46% ABV

Matured exclusively in American and European Oak Oloroso seasoned casks from the cooperages of Jerez in Spain’s ‘Sherry Triangle’.

Appearance: White wine. Many medium/thick legs form with lots of teardrops and a thick swirl mark.

Nose: BBQ’d apple, honey and floral notes. A fairly light and zesty start to the palate. A good hit of ABV accompanies the intiial aromas. Oat bars, honey nut cornflakes and (a first for me) Krisprolls wholegrain follows. After some time lemon sherbert makes an appearance. There’s even a slight funk now.

Palate: Lovely oily mouthfeel. Some kindling smoke presents first, with notes of tree bark. There’s also a very pleasing and friendly sweetness accompanying the smoke and bark. As with the 12, there’s a deep and rich strawberry jam element that’s awesome, so fruity!

Finish: medium in length. Strawberry reduction and smoked chocolate, dusted with black pepper.

Overall: Another banger from Tamdhu. I’m starting to seriously like what these guys are producing!
