The Whisky Broker Fettercairn 12yo 53.7% ABV

whisky broker fettercairn

Cask #800321, filled into a Hogshead on 16/03/2009. Transferred into a sherry Hogshead on 02/03/2018. Bottled 09/09/2021. Bottle number 100 of 285. Non chill-filtered. No added colouring.

Appearance: White wine/diluted apple juice. Hairline swirl mark and a few thick legs. Decent film on the glass.

Nose: Smouldering sawdust, those bananas baked on the BBQ with caramel, burnt sugar, toffee, there’s a little bit of Kilkerran on the nose for me. Banana Skids.

Palate: Ooh, the palate is a bit Kilkerran-like too, but with an odd river water side to it. It’s almost smoked fish-like. It’s got that water element to the palate. Big sulphur develops.

Finish: Sulphur, bitterness and spice heat.

Overall: I’m OK with it but wouldn’t buy a bottle.
