The Whisky Cellar Cambus 33yo 1988 (cask 59256 & 59258) 42.5% ABV

Distilled in 1988 and aged in a pair of American oak hogsheads for 33 years, then finally bottled up in 2022. 498 bottles were produced.

Nose: A pleasant level of ABV. Salted caramel, chocolate, and a vegetal element. Vanilla, Blu Tak, a touch of oak and a little hair spray.

Palate: The ABV remains fairly light. Heaps of vanilla, custard and a little apple pie. Baking spices and some of that salted caramel again. Orchard fruits arrive after a time too, poached pear and red apples.

Finish: Short. Brown sugar, the baking spices and pastry last a little while.

Overall: It’s a lovely mellow and friendly dram. I could happily drink this of an evening but probably wouldn’t purchase a bottle.
