Appearance
Darker than the Ardmore, pushing mid gold this time, the swirl line is medium thick and it beads up to drop several thick legs in my Glencairn. #thewhiskeychaps
Nose
Straight in with balsa wood and white fruits initially, greengages, green grapes, slightly unripe plums too. The swirl line is really thick and syrupy now. I’m also getting a pepperiness, like little spikes of rye in there. The wood is becoming richer. #thewhiskeychaps
A chocolate and caramel fragrance is coming through now, but the white fruit sweetness still persists, I’m really looking forward to tasting this tbh. #thewhiskeychaps
Palate
Again nice mouthfeel, and yes the spices are here from the nose, and there’s more besides. The whistle fruits are here too for me, unripe plums, and gooseberries, then opposite with the spices I get blackcurrants and pomelo. #thewhiskeychaps
There’s almost a smokiness here with those spices, like blackcurrant jam on toast tbh. Cigar leaves, ripe plums now, cinnamon, but light, and this dram also thickens over time, it’s really quite syrupy now tbh. #thewhiskeychaps
Finish
Quite long for me, and staying spicy with the fruits, it’s lovely and rounded and has plenty of body, it’s very juicy. #thewhiskeychaps

My thoughts
When i saw this bottle i knew it was one that would interest me. Even though iv’e only tasted a couple of Tormore whiskies, i have enjoyed them. Being finished in Tokaji cask for a year also piqued my interest, iv’e tasted a couple of other whiskies finished in this cask type, and found them quite refreshing in style.
The Tormore whisky and cask type have worked very well together in my humble opinion. The cask type gives me white fruits, which i haven’t come across too often on my whisk(e)y trail. It’s a cask characteristic i really enjoy.
This whisky offers plenty on the nose and palate, Little brown dogs spirits have crafted a super whisky in all honesty. It’s different in some ways, and i rather like that. There are bottles of this to be found out and about and online, and at around £65 i think it’s a great bottle with much to offer. I certainly wouldn’t refuse a bottle for my whisky cupboard.
A big thank you goes out to Andrew from Little Brown Dog spirits who joined us on the tasting that this whisky was a part of.
