West Cork Port cask finished, 43% ABV.

west cork port cask

Appearance – Deep gold in colour, very viscous in the glass, very slow running thin legs.

Nose – Lots of cherry lozenge, prickly for 43% ABV, round dark red plums, cranberries, very slightly menthol, linseed oil, cheese cake biscuit base, slightly grassy, and a little perfume.

Palate – Elegant, cherry lozenges again, loverly subtle red wine fruits, spearmint, spicy white pepper, slightly drying, blood orange, and lightly floral.

Finish – Medium to long, white pepper spice, red wine fruits, white grapes, oak, warming, slightly tannic dryness.

My thoughts – A very enjoyable light and elegant whiskey, that also has some spice and floral perfume notes.

Would I buy a bottle? – Yes, it’s a style that i really enjoy, at a great price.
